Capital Chemist Wanniassa is an innovative, multi-award winning pharmacy based in the south of Canberra, ACT. We are an extended hours, health services focused pharmacy. Home to the "#WanniWhiteCoats", #singingpharmacists and the Positivity for Pharmacy movement.

We usually have 2-3 internships available annually, and are currently taking applications for 2023 (or late 2022)!

Your typical day would be varied- health service delivery (we have over 30 health services regularly offered), engaging with our lovely community on all things health, dispensing under supervision. We believe in frontline, proactive healthcare and the difference pharmacists make in peoples lives.
Our team of nearly 40 is made up mostly of pharmacists, so you have access to a wide range of skill sets and specialties- diabetes educator pharmacists, asthma educator pharmacists, accredited pharmacists, mental health pharmacists- all under one roof.

If that isn't exciting enough, from February 2023 we will have an robot in our dispensary, and wonderful new space, and many consultation rooms to match. We are also commencing environmental initiatives across our pharmacy to reduce our impact on the planet!

Capital Chemist Dickson is looking for a friendly, self-motivated and highly organised Dispensary Technician. The Dispensary Technician will support the Pharmacists in store in providing a great patient experience and timely and accurate dispensary operation. Pharmacy experience is essential, dispensing experience is helpful but can be taught.

Working closely with the pharmacists, your duties include:

  • Dispensing medications
  • Actively assist the pharmacists in providing service and product information to patients
  • Ordering stock for the dispensary
  • Updating patient files
  • Assisting in Dose Administration Aids
  • Invoicing
  • Providing support to other team members
  • Ensure all dispensary administration duties are performed, including organising and maintaining the cleanliness of the dispensary area

The successful candidate will have completed S2/S3 Certificate, or Cert II in Community Pharmacy. You will have effective communication skills and work well in a team environment. You understand instructions and pay attention to detail.

We are a suburban community pharmacy in Chisholm, ACT, and our community is our focus. We are the proud winners of the 2021 Australian Small Business Champion Awards (Pharmacy category), Pharmacy Guild of Australia 2020 Pharmacy of the Year, Winner of the 2020 Pharmacy Guild of Australia Excellence in Business Management Award and the Capital Chemist Pharmacy of the Year in 2019 and 2018 and we continue to strive to be the best we can.

The Capital Chemist group are proud to support our community through health services and supporting local community groups. This pharmacist intern position is heavily involved in screening services, primary health care, supporting health promotion activities, fundraising events and medicine counselling.

Capital Chemist O’Connor is Canberra’s original late-night pharmacy and continues to serve the community every day of the year from 8am to 11pm. We are looking for a pharmacist who is self-motivated, reliable, and will provide exceptional patient care. 

The requirements for the role:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent)
  • Current general registration with AHPRA (without conditions or undertakings)
  • Current first aid, CPR and Immunisation qualifications
  • Current Opioid Replacement Therapy certificate
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Able to manage time efficiently



  • Experience with Fred Dispense
  • Experience in MethDA and electronic DD book


We operate on a 4-week roster. Shifts will include alternating Saturday day shift, 3 Sunday night shifts (which attracts the Sunday and evening penalty rates).

Minimum 20 hours per week. Fulltime position negotiable.
