Capital Chemist Curtin is looking for a motivated pharmacist intern for 2022!


The role involves supporting our pharmacists and helping to drive professional services including vaccinations, complex compounding, specialists testing, leave certificates, supplying IVF medications, woundcare and our weight management program (Impromy).

Lots of training and support provided with our experienced and knowledgeable dispensary team. We also offer development and growth opportunities, with additional workshops, courses or certifications for the suitable candidate.


Regular duties will include:

  • General dispensing
  • Leave certificates and vaccinations under the supervision of a pharmacist
  • Complex compounding in our specialised lab
  • Dose aid administration tasks
  • Dispensary stock control
  • Taking in and handing out scripts
  • Counselling patients about new medicines

Attributes of the successful candidate:

  • An eye for detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work well with a great team in a face paced environment
  • A positive attitude and be motivated to learn new skills


  • A Bachelor or Masters of Pharmacy degree

You will be required to work 76 hours per fortnight including every second Saturday.

Capital Chemist O’Connor is Canberra’s original late-night pharmacy and continues to serve the community every day of the year from 8am to 11pm. We are looking for a pharmacist who is self-motivated, reliable, and will provide exceptional patient care. 

The requirements for the role:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent)
  • Current general registration with AHPRA (without conditions or undertakings)
  • Current first aid, CPR and Immunisation qualifications
  • Current Opioid Replacement Therapy certificate
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Able to manage time efficiently



  • Experience with Fred Dispense
  • Experience in MethDA and electronic DD book


We operate on a 4-week roster. Shifts will include alternating Saturday day shift, 3 Sunday night shifts (which attracts the Sunday and evening penalty rates).

Minimum 20 hours per week. Fulltime position negotiable.

We are a compounding pharmacy, which allows us to serve our community by preparing medicines for human and animal use which are not commercially available. We also supply IVF medicines to the Canberra community and advise on the optimal use and administration of these specialised medicines.

About the role

The successful applicant must share our vision, work well with our hardworking team, embrace challenges and possess a high level of accuracy.

The role involves counselling patients about medications; providing advice in the front of shop; and driving all aspects of our professional services, including compounding.

We are looking for a full-time pharmacist to work between 8.30am - 7pm Monday to Friday and alternate Saturdays 8.30am - 4pm.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Intern Pharmacist to join our team at Capital Chemist Lyneham.

We are an energetic and enthusiastic team who are dedicated to improving our patients’ healthcare in the best possible way. Our pharmacy is the face of healthcare to our local community so customer service and patient care is always our priority.

In your intern year, you will experience learning and training across all aspects of the pharmacy and will be supported by your preceptor alongside 3 full-time pharmacists. Our aim is to grow you as a pharmacist.

During your internship program with us, we also will provide you with:

• Regular feedback sessions with your preceptor

• One-on-one exam preparation with your preceptor

• Access to past exams and sample papers

• Training and experience across all specialist areas in the pharmacy which include:

o Vaccinations

o Pregnancy care, lactation, and children’s health

o Opioid maintenance therapy

o Home health care

o Sleep apnoea

o Dose administration aids

• A flexible start date between Nov 2021 and February 2022
